What format does my phone number need to be in?

Last Updated: May 07, 2013 10:38AM EST
Mobile phone numbers need to be entered in international formatting, without the leading ‘00’ or ‘+’. E.g. if your number is listed as +61447xxxxxx, or 0061447xxxxxx, remove the + or 00 to make 61447000000.

To convert a domestic number into international format, generally remove any leading ‘0’ and add your country code. Eg. 0447 xxx xxx becomes 61447 xxx xxx.

Country-specific examples

Australian number: 0447 xxx xxx (9 digits, excluding the leading ‘0’)
  • Country code for Australia: 61
  • The converted number would be 61447xxxxxx

Indian number: 09000 xxx xxx (10 digits, excluding the leading ‘0’)
  • Country code for India: 91
  • The converted number would be 919000xxxxxx

UK number: 077xx xxxxxx (10 digits, excluding the leading ‘0’)
  • Country code for UK: 44
  • The converted number would be 4477xx xxxxxx

US number: 212-xxx-xxxx (10 digits, including area code without the leading ‘0’)
  • Country code for US: 1
  • The converted number would be 1 212xxx xxxx
